Dolphin Viewer 3 – 3.2.0.22166

Finally I have a new version for you guys.

New or fixed in this version:

  • Based on 3.2.x sources now.
  • Updated to Marine Kelley’s latest RLV code.
  • Fixed STORM-1713: Mouse pointer flickers over clickable UI items (from Ansariel Hiller / FireStorm).
  • Client AO has been adapted to the new 3.2 toolbar button UI.
  • Toolbar buttons for Windlight Settings and Area Search.
  • You can now configure the viewer to turn you around when walking backwards.
Note: when this is ON, you will see it work on every avatar, not just yours, and other people using a viewer without it will still see you walk backwards. In short: this setting works on your screen, not inworld.
  • Texture refresh from FireStorm has been imported.
This gives you an option labeled “Texture Refresh” in the context menu of inworld objects and avatars. When something is grey or blurry use this option to force a re-fetch of the textures involved.
  • The particle editor from FireStorm has been imported.
When editing a prim you can choose “Edit Particles” from the Tools/Object menu, to create a particle effect in a more user-friendly way. You can create a simple particle script when you’re done, or just copy the same script into your clipboard to paste it into a bigger script.

Known issues:

  • There is no Flickr uploader for now. Porting that to the new snapshot code will take some more time, which I honestly do not have right now, due to RL commitments.
  • There is still no working mesh upload. I’ve tried using the Firestorm code and the results weren’t up to my standards.

Work in progress:

  • Satomi Ahns login manager from Firestorm
  • Flickr uploader
  • Mesh upload

The downloads are on the download page.

  1. Oh great, sidebar has been completely removed, and there is no way to bring it back.

Reverting to previous version, and staying there until LL fixes this.

    • well, not my decision.

and honestly, I don’t get it.

First, LL introduces the sidebar UI with viewer 2, and people won’t stop complaining about it.
Now they realize that not everybody is happy with the sidebar, and people complain.

  2. I know, that’s LL fooling around, like always. Also, users that have a problem with anything are the ones that usually complain, not the ones that are satisfied, that’s normal.

But before this release at least you had an option to undock windows. Now they’re all floaters by default and there is no way to dock them. So much about their “customization” that this new UI is supposed to have.

  3. Hello,

I downloaded the latest version of Dolphin viewer for Windows and I have a problem.

The problem is that the viewer is in English and can not change the language (Spanish in my case) and missing folders for different languages โ€‹โ€‹in the directory Skins > Default > Xui, only has the English folder.

I downloaded the Second Life viewer and I copied all language folders of the Xui folder to the Xui folder of Dolphin Viewer but without solution, continues in English.

How I can then change the viewer language please?

    • You can’t, sorry. Dolphin Viewer 3 is only available in english. I simply do not have the manpower to keep the language files up-to-date, especially not for languages that I don’t speak ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. Thanks Lance, couldn’t you do as in previous versions of the viewer who had a folder with all languages โ€‹โ€‹included?

For a year I’ve been using the Dolphin Viewer and now I would have to start using another viewer that has the Spanish language ๐Ÿ™

    Regards

  5. The problem is that the translations from LL are way beyond awful already… and I could only do some minor cosmetics on german and english, since those are the only languages I speak.

And given my standards, and the awful quality of the german translations from LL, I would likely start to redo them from scratch, and I simply do not have the time for that. if you *do* need spanish you could try to copy the “es” folders from a standard viewer into the right places, and edit panel_preferences_general.xml to enable switching. I only commented out the section that builds the dropdown menu with the languages.

  6. Hello Lance, So that means if I change to German it will only have affect to what If it has no Effect on the UI anymore? *sigh* I don’t complain cause my english is not the worst but also not my first language so it would be fine if there would be…anyhow…a workaround *blinks*

    • I’m sorry to say so, but yes.
English is not my first language either, but my english is good enough to see that the original german UI from LL is made by someone who doesn’t actually speaks german fluently.
On top of that the whole layout of the UI would have to be adjusted for different languages, buttons would have to be bigger or smaller, or rearranged… which is not possible with the way the UI files work 0.o

Ant then there’s still the little problem with manpower. I’m the only one working on this viewer after all ๐Ÿ™‚
